There is a growing confusion among students about the HOME STATE rank obtained by them in the AIEEE examination conducted by CBSE and also how to utilize this home state quota is the most trending topic amongst students.
We went through the documents available in the CCB website and found out the following information regarding the home state quota.
All the seats including Home state and Category will be allotted on the basis of All India Rank only . The ranks other than overall AIR are for statistical information .
And regarding the home state quota, the information brochure (requires Adobe Reader) has the following excerpts:
Definition of Home State (HS) quota
Seats reserved for candidates based on state of eligibility. Some of the new NITs have union territories attached.
Allotment policy for All India (AI) and Home state (HS) quotas
A candidate, based on AIR and his/her choices, will be first considered for allotment under All India quota. If the choice is not available under All India quota, he/she will be considered for Home State quota or the category specific quota, as applicable. This process is repeated till an allotment is made or the choices are exhausted.
A candidate who is offered a branch in an institute under the home state quota will be considered for the same branch and institute but under All India quota in subsequent rounds subject to availability of vacant seats. Similarly, a candidate who is offered a seat under SC/ ST/ OBC category and/or PH sub-category shall be considered for allotment in OP category in subsequent rounds subject to eligibility and availability of vacant seats.
Students are advised to exercise caution between the terms Home state quota and Home state rank.
All the best and make your choices with due care!
